Rebecca Raby

Rebecca’s journey into the joy of music began at the age of 6 when she first saw someone play the violin and was absolutely enchanted. The fire lit in her soul that day never died, and thanks to the rigorous training she received from many incredible teachers along the way she was accepted into the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where she would go on to be awarded the Ben Heppner Prize in music and become the overall Concerto Competition winner in 2013, soloing twice with the Symphony Orchestra. Among her other awards are the Presidents Honors Award in music, the Harvey E. Mittenthal Chair Scholarship, the Joann Falletta Endowed Music Scholarship, and the Marshall Powell String Award.

In addition to performing, Rebecca has thoroughly enjoyed her positions teaching violin at the Community School of the Arts in Wheaton, IL, The String Academy of Chicago, the CODA outreach program in West Chicago public schools and The Renaissance School of the Arts. After moving back to her native Virginia, she founded Still Point Studio where she has had the deep joy of guiding students of all ages and interests toward their musical goals.

Rebecca and her husband Joshua love playing and composing music together, reading and talking about history, literature and mythology into the wee hours of the morning in their little library, and spending as much of the day as possible in the mountain creeks near their home with their three young children.
